About
Sarah Moody researches Latin American literature and culture of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She is interested in the development of intellectual networks and their disappearance from cultural memory, particularly regarding women writers and their relationship to literary canon formation. Her recent monograph, Las Raras (Vanderbilt UP), examines Modernismo and women’s writing in the trans-Hispanic space, and her co-edited volume Las fracturas del mármol (CLACSO) explores the cultural meanings of heroism in modern Latin America. Her current project, supported by a 2024 NEH Summer Stipend and a CARI fellowship, examines a magazine by and for Afro-Cuban women from 1888-89.
