  • About
My name is Anthony R. Auchterlonie, I come to the University of Victoria located on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples from the Comox Valley which is located on the traditional unceded territories of Pentlatch, Ei’ksan, Sahtloot and Sasitla people of the K'omoks First Nation. I have the privilege of holding the position of Project Manager (Acting) on the Past Wrongs, Future Choices Project for a one year term while Michael Abe is seconded to another project within the community.

I come from an interdisciplinary academic background having completed a double major in Environmental Studies and History with a minor in Political Science at the University of Victoria in 2018. I am currently a graduate student in the department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria working towards the completion of my thesis examining memorialization practices in relation to the Holocaust and Canada’s Indian Residential School System. The aim of my research is to provide some recommendation on how all levels of government may move forward on satisfying the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action as they pertain to memorialization. I am set to defend my thesis under the working title “Memory, Politics, and Place: Revitalizing Indigeneity and Unsettling Colonial Narratives with Lessons from Europe and the Holocaust” in early 2023.
