Game Studies (Journal)

The International Journal of Computer Game Research

Our Mission - To explore the rich cultural genre of games; to give scholars a peer-reviewed forum for their ideas and theories; to provide an academic channel for the ongoing discussions on games and gaming.

Game Studies is a non-profit, open-access, crossdisciplinary journal dedicated to games research, web-published several times a year at www.gamestudies.org.

Our primary focus is aesthetic, cultural and communicative aspects of computer games, but any previously unpublished article focused on games and gaming is welcome. Proposed articles should be jargon-free, and should attempt to shed new light on games, rather than simply use games as metaphor or illustration of some other theory or phenomenon.

Korean Journal of Digital Humanities (KJDH)

The semiannual Korean Journal of Digital Humanities (KJDH) was launched by the Korean Association for Digital Humanities in Summer 2024.

Welcome to the Korean Association for Digital Humanities!

Digital Humanities is an innovative approach that intersects humanities research and education with digital environments and data processing technologies. In our modern world, communication and expression rely heavily on various digital mediums. Through digital humanities, we aim to revitalize humanities research with creative approaches and effectively harness the resulting knowledge. Moreover, we strive to nurture digital literacy among the digital-native generation, the future leaders of our societies.

Established as a consortium in May 2015, KADH serves as a shared platform for individuals and groups currently engaged in, or interested in digital humanities research and education. Our purpose is to enhance the digital humanities landscape in Korea by sharing experiences and expertise. We offer education programs to traditional humanities scholars and emerging researchers interested in exploring new digital methodologies. Additionally, the association strives to serve as a hub encompassing domestic and international digital humanities activities by advising the government and affiliated academic institutions on policies related to fostering digital humanities and engaging in exchanges with overseas digital humanities organizations.

KADH warmly invites participation from individuals, groups, and institutions alike. Whether interested in digital humanities research, education, interdisciplinary research enabled by digital technologies, or bridging academia with creative industry, we welcome your involvement. Our focus is on establishing a network of Korean language researchers and professionals from associated industries, but we are inclusive of anyone living in Korea or those interested in Korean digital humanities.

Japanese Association for Digital Humanities

The field of humanities is undergoing a radical transformation in its encounter with rapid developments in the digital domain. In response to this situation, various efforts have been undertaken based on collaboration between the humanities and the information technologies in Japan and foreign countries. Recently, various related activities have been carried out under the rubric of Digital Humanities in Europe and North America. Progress in this area in Japan however, has been hindered in a couple of ways. For example, there have been limits to the extent of the collaboration between Japanese digital humanities specialists and their counterparts in the West brought about by the basic difficulties with the digitization of the characters and texts that compose Japanese resources. In general, the results of digitization efforts in Japan in the humanities disciplines have not been commensurate with the huge effort and expense made heretofore. To begin to resolve such issues, we intend to establish the Japanese Association for Digital Humanities (JADH), which aims to form an environment where international collaborative works are more fully realized. JOGOS DIGITAIS E ENSINO DE HISTÓRIA: O USO DO ROLE PLAYING GAME (RPG) NO ENSINO INTERDISCIPLINAR ONLINE SOBRE A COMUNIDADE DOS PAÍSES DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA (CPLP)

Autores/Authors:

Cardoso, Bianca e Silva; Matta, Alfredo Eurico Rodrigues
