What is Anubis and what do I do if it prevents me from accessing the rest of the site?

Anubis is the “bot attacker” you see when entering the HSS Commons. Anubis is an open-source “Web AI firewall” designed to slow down or block automated scrapers and bots while letting real people through.

If you have issues accessing the HSS Commons due to the Anubis firewall, you can try the following actions:

  1. Refresh the page.

  1. Ensure JavaScript is enabled for the site.

  1. Try a different browser or a private/incognito window to rule out extension conflicts.

  1. Temporarily relax strict script‑blocking extensions (e.g., allow scripts for the HSS Commons domain).

  1. If the problem persists, clear cookies for the site and reload, so Anubis issues a fresh challenge.
